Greetings. My name is Chris. I'm 26, female, from New York and I'm a big Star Trek fan. I absolutely love Vulcans. They totally rock. :)My question to everyone is who is your favorite Vulcan and what is your favorite Star Trek series?

I'd have to say that T'Pol is my favorite Vulcan and (yes, I know I'm in a minority here) but Enterprise is my favorite series because I really enjoyed learning more about the first voyages of Starfleet and how the Federation came about. :)

I have another question for everyone. Is there anyplace that I can get a Vulcan dictionary? I know they've made Klingon ones so I was hoping there'd be a Vulcan one out there somewhere too. If anyone knows of one please pass it on. :)

Anyway, I'm pleased to be here and I hope some more people start chatting soon 'cause I'd love to hear from you.

Oh, and one last question. Where does everyone stand on the whole Trekkie vs. Trekker thing and what do you consider yourself? I supposed, by definition, I'm a Trekker but I've never really much cared either way. I don't see why some people get so irritated over this issue. What are your thought?

Shacha and welcome to the community Chris.
:)
We appear to have quiet members so it´s nice to have someone post something for once. I myself can´t post much for the next two months as i´m on vacation in Brazil.
To answer your questions:
1. Spock and the original series. (nothing beats the original for me)
2. I´ve heard of one but I´m not sure where you could get it. You could try searching amazon or ebay though.
3. To be quite honest, i´ve never even heard of this debate! I have no idea why but it´s completely new to me, could you please explain it?
Thankyou once again. Oyori (just for a change)

I'll try searching on Amazon. Thanks for suggesting it. :)

Um, okay here's the "Trekkie vs. Trekker" thing in a nutshell:

Trekkies are those who either A) love the original series and that's it or B) those who are completely obsessed with Star Trek (the kind that blur the lines of reality and fiction on a daily basis).

According to the U.S.S. Belgica term list (http://www.ussbelgica.be/engineering/terms.php) this is a Trekkie:

"A groupie fan. Someone who wears Spock ears and thinks that makes them important. Asks questions like "what did you have for breakfast on the Tuesday when you shot scene 46a of episode 5?" The most die-hard fan, who lives, eats, and breathes Star Trek. Term originated in the late 1960s when it meant "any fan of Star Trek". This has actually made it into the dictionary according to Leonard Nimoy, who suggested that they change the entry to "Trekker", a more acceptable term these days"

After Nimoy suggested the change some people adopted the term "Trekker" which today means someone who is an overall fan of Star Trek and has followed it through all the different series. According to U.S.S. Belgica term list a Trekker is:

"A fan who is interested in the show and the idea of Star Trek, but doesn't let it interfere with his / her life. This is apparently being added to an upcoming edition of Webster's Dictionary. Term came into popularity in the 1970s when the press gave "Trekkie" a bad name."

Today there is a great debate about which is correct and who should be called what. Some Trekker look down on Trekkies and vice versa. To me it's silly but that's how it goes. There are also other Trekkie-type terms that can be applied to different types of fans. They are as follows:

Treknican:

"A fan who enjoys collecting data (and debating with others) on the technical aspect of Star Trek (warp technology, transporter technology, shields, etc.)."

Trekologist:

"A fan who enjoys collecting Star Trek technical literature and trying to logically and rationally explain continuity errors in the show."

I hope that sheds some insite. :)

Thanks, that does help.
I guess I´m a cross between a trekkie and a trekker.

By definition I'm a Trekker but I usually say Trekkie since it's the more common term. :)

you could find a vulcan dictionary online if you search vulcan language dictionary. In response to your favourite vulcan I would have to say that mine is Saavik and I am also a minority. I am half vulcan and I seriously have green blood.
